Birthday Cupcakes for Dogs

Use this dog cupcake recipe to make a birthday treat that really takes the cake!*

*This is not complete and balanced and is intended to be served as a treat. Treats should not account for more than 10% of your dog’s daily calorie needs. For every 25 lbs. of body weight, feed a quarter of a cupcake. Always provide fresh water for drinking. Avoid giving this treat to dogs with known gastrointestinal upset, are predisposed to pancreatitis or small dogs less than 25 lbs.

Instructions

  1. HEAT oven to 350°F. Grease 24 muffin cups.
  2. BEAT eggs in large bowl with mixer on high speed 1 minute. Add applesauce, peanut butter and oil. Beat until blended.
  3. BEAT in flour and baking soda until blended. Stir in carrot.
  4. DIVIDE evenly into prepared muffin cups. Bake 20 to 23 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. COOL 5 minutes. Remove from pans to wire rack to cool completely.
  6. PLACE potatoes in medium saucepan. Add enough water to cover. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes or until fork tender.
  7. DRAIN potatoes, reserving about 1/2 cup cooking liquid. Beat potatoes with hand mixer on high speed until smooth. Add yogurt. Beat until smooth and creamy. Beat in some of the reserved cooking liquid, a little at a time, just until mixture reaches spreading consistency.
  8. PIPE or spread on top of each cupcake.
  9. DECORATE each cupcake with 1 Milk-Bone® Original Mini’s dog biscuits. Makes 24 cupcakes

Off-the-Leash Dog Birthday Party Ideas

Use these tips to throw the best dog birthday or gotcha day party known to man’s best friend.

Choose A Theme

A truly photo-op-worthy dog birthday party starts with a cohesive theme. But which is the right fit for your dog? To start, consider his or her personality. If your dog is the pampered type with a taste for luxury, you could give them the royal treatment. If they’re outdoorsy, the obvious choice is an outdoor party with plenty of activities, if possible. Here are a few theme examples to consider.

Beach Blanket Bash

A tropical beach theme in the backyard is a no-brainer for summer furbabies. You could set up a wading pool and blow up some beach balls for your dog and all their friends to play with. Serve up water and Milk-Bone dog treats in colorful bowls and pails. You could even bust out your favorite Hawaiian shirt to lean into the theme.

Canine Corral

Bring out their Wild Wild Best with a Western-style theme. You could decorate with “Wanted” posters featuring a picture of your dog, or even some of your four-legged guests. Give your dog a special birthday bandana and serve Milk-Bone GravyBones® biscuits.

Prince and Princess

Give your dog and their besties the royal treatment with a luxurious get-together. If your dog and other four-legged guests enjoy costumes, have them dress up in their best dresses, crowns and other finery. Use purple, royal blue and/or tulle tablecloths for a regal snack table featuring their favorite Milk-Bone treats.

Play Fun Games

Think about which games and activities always get your dog’s tail wagging. Then unleash the toys and treats to craft a party that any pup would do zoomies for. Here are some suggestions.

Fetch with Friends

For the retrievers and competitors in your group who can’t get enough of this classic game.

Flying Disc Fun

Let the discs soar and get some awesome pics of epic catches.

Scavenger Hunt

Hide Milk-Bone treats around the house or yard and enjoy watching the sniffing search.

End with a Goodie Bag

When the fun is done, send your dog’s guests home with special goodie bags. These could include a little toy, coupons to the groomer and, of course, some Milk-Bone dog treats. Try our 2.5-ounce bags of Flavor Snacks® Mini’s!
